Léonora Miano was born in Douala (Cameroon). She left her country in 1991 to go to France where she studied British and American literature. She started writing poetry as a child and novels when she turned sixteen. Five novels, a collection of short stories and a book of creative non fiction dealing with cameroonian food have been published since 2005. Her first published book, L’intérieur de la nuit has been translated into English under the title: Dark Heart Of The Night (University of Nebraska Press, 2010). Miano’s writings address such questions as the unknown wounds of subsaharan Africa or the afropean experience.
